All laptops available today let you to add more memory. High memory increases the speed of windows and you do not face the sudden stagnating of the computer in the middle of your work. This part is really very annoying.

 How to find where the Memory Compartment is?
The memory compartment is located either on the bottom part of the computer OR below the keyboard, so you have to remove the keyboard.

If you have doubt that where to find the Memory Compartment? Use the user’s guide to see the exact location of this compartment on your particular model. If you have lost one then go to the Internet and type your computer manufacturer name model.

 
 Memory sockets types and limitations:

1.    If all the memory sockets are already used.
 Then you will need to remove one of your old memory sticks and install new one or remove all the old memory sticks and install new ones with higher capacity.
2.    If the current memory used by your laptop is available thru one memory stick, and this memory stick is using one of the two memory sockets available. In this case, you can buy one extra memory module and install it.

Again consult the laptop’s user’s guide. For example, if your laptop has one 512 MB memory stick already installed and it has a 1 GB limit per socket, you cannot install a 2 GB module on the available socket. To install 2 GB on this particular model, you will have to buy two 1 GB modules and remove your old module.

3. Memory might be installed directly on the motherboard, on memory sockets which is usually one or two.
If this is the case then buy memory modules and install them on empty slots.

How ever there is a limit of installing the memory stick.

For example, if you want to add more 2 GB memory but your model only supports up to 1 GB modules, you will have to install two 1 GB modules instead of one 2 GB Memory.

Types of Memory stick:
SDRAM,
DDR,
DDR2
DDR3.
You should know that DIMM memory stick for each technology are different and you can’t install a DDR2 module on a laptop that only accepts DDR modules and or going in opposite way.

 The best way to buy similar or exact type of memory stick
The best way is to remove one memory stick and take it to the shop and then you will find the accurate type of memory for the

laptop.

Do not depend on the shop keeper knowledge.

Do not try and if failed try again.
